It’s coming home ……..

As the hype around England winning the world cup grows, we thought it’s as good a time as any to share a little recap on 2018 so far at December 19.

The first 6 months have thankfully been a little steadier for us than the back end of 2017 and sometimes it’s only when you stop to take a breath to reflect on what we’ve achieved, you realise how far we’ve come…

The year got off to a flyer, well more of a lounger, picking up the La-Z-Boy business. This was closely followed up by the Royal Academy of Engineering, who appointed us on the back of a competitive pitch for demonstrating a great understanding of their target audience and how best to reach them in digital channels only, with AV at the heart of the plan.

Completing what was a very busy and successful start to the year, we were also appointed to look after the media planning and buying in the UK for South Tyrol, our first win working in conjunction with our European network of independent agencies – Capita Media.

Winning new business is obviously the bread and butter of growth, but here at December 19 we value lots of other things aside from financial/commercial growth, with our people and culture being top of the list. So we were obviously delighted to be awarded the number 1 ‘Best Small Places to Work’ by Campaign Magazine back in March. In the words of Campaign “for what it lacks in size, it looks to compensate for in happy, healthy staff.” Sandy the office dog was clearly delighted.

Not sure if it was a direct result of us being crowned the Best Small Place to Work, but shortly afterwards we announced Mark Barber MBE as our first ever Non-Executive Director. Mark has been a big supporter of December 19 from day one; and now, at a time when we are looking to mature the business, Mark is providing support for future success.

Back on the new business trail in May, we were delighted to secure the Canburg account. The luxury kitchen brand company, Smallbone of Devizes and Mark Wilkinson Furniture, appointed December 19 on the back of our passion for media and expertise in the luxury and home interest sectors.

Obviously with all of these new wins, the team has had to grow to enable us to continue to deliver high levels of service and maintain client satisfaction levels – we set ourselves very high standards down here, and believe the appointment of Katy Clarkson as Head of Planning, and Martin Donnelly as Head of Non-Broadcast, can only enhance the December 19 offering.

On the subject of client satisfaction, we commissioned Altheo Insight to conduct a client satisfaction and recommendation survey. More of this to follow; but, in a nutshell we received a 41% completion rate. 84% of our clients were either very satisfied or completely satisfied, and our average recommendation score was 8.9 out of 10. Whoop whoop!

Last but by no means least, we welcomed our very first December 19 baby. The lovely Olivia had a baby boy – Joshua. Mother and baby are loving life.

We’re getting ready to hold on to our hats for what the rest of 2018 has to offer…quite literally, as our next team away day is to Thorpe Park, eeek! And of course celebrating England being crowned… nah?!
